当别人跟你这么说的时候，千万别当真
在英国，如果你的朋友对你说：“very interesting.”你是不是会心花怒放，觉得他们认可你的观点，觉得你很有趣，想和你交朋友？不要自作多情啦！他们不过是客气一下，才不是真的觉得有意思呢！为了不尴尬，英式含蓄表达学起来！
1. I hear what you say. 字面意思：我听见你说什么了。
你以为的：He accepts my point of view. 他同意我的观点。
真正意思：I disagree and do not want to discuss it further. 我不赞同你，这个问题的讨论就此打住吧。 对话应用：
A：Tom, I can’t put up with your. I want break up with you whether you agree or not. 汤姆，我忍受不了你了，不管你同意不同意，我都要和你分手。 B：All right. I hear what you say. 好了，我知道了，别再说了。
2. You must come for dinner.
字面意思：有机会一定要来吃晚餐啊。
你以为的：I will get an invitation soon. 我很快要收到赴宴邀请啦。
真正意思：It's not an invitation, I'm just being polite. 然而并没有什么邀请，人家只是表示礼貌而已。 对话应用：
A：Nice to meet you and welcome you to our apartment. You must come for dinner.很高兴见到你，欢迎你加入我们的公寓，有机会一起吃晚餐啊。 B：Thanks. 谢谢。
3. I almost agree.
字面意思：我差不多同意。
你以为的：He's not far from agreement. 他离同意不远了。 真正意思：I don't agree at all. 我根本不同意。

4. Could we consider some other options? 字面意思：我们还有其他备选项吗？
你以为的：They have not yet decided. 他们还没决定（需要进一步讨论）。 真正意思：I don't like your idea. 我觉得你的主意不怎么样。 对话应用：
A：I think we should take a break and consider whether we are the right one or not. 我觉得我们该冷静一段时间，想想我们是否真的合适在一起。 B：Could we consider some other options？我不觉得这样很好。
5. That's not bad. 字面意思：不赖。
你以为的：That's poor. 很渣。 真正意思：That's good. 很好。 对话应用：
A：Boss, according to the market and government’ policy, I propose that we should stop investing real estate. 老板，根据现在的市场和，我提议停止投资房地产。 B：That’s not bad, you can work on it. 很好，就按这个方案进行吧。
6. Quite good. 字面意思：挺好的。
你以为的：Quite good. 非常棒。
真正意思：A bit disappointing. 不尽如人意。 对话应用：
A：How’s your conversation with your client？Did he consider to sign the contract?

7. That is a very brave proposal. 字面意思：这个提议挺大胆的。
你以为的：He thinks I have courage. 他赞赏我的勇气。 真正意思：You are insane. 你疯了吧。 对话应用：
A：I want quit my job to be a housewife. 我想辞了工作做个家庭主妇。 B：That is a very brave proposal. 你疯了吧。
8. Oh, incidentally/ by the way... 字面意思：哎，对了（还有个事儿）……
你以为的：That is not very important. 不是什么重要的事儿。
真正意思：The primary purpose of our discussion is... 此次讨论的主题就是（这件事）。 对话应用：
A：Here is the book you ask for. Oh, by the way, you should return my $100. 你要的书给你。对了，你要还我100美元了。
B：Oh my god, I almost forget. 天哪，差点就忘记了。
9. I was a bit disappointed that... 字面意思：（对这件事）我有点失望…… 你以为的：It doesn't really matter. 没什么要紧。 真正意思：I am annoyed that... （对这件事）我很不满。 对话应用：
A：I was a bit disappointed that you lied to me. 你骗了我，我很失望。
B：Honey, please forgive me. I promise I wouldn’t do that again. 亲爱的，请原谅我，我保证下不为例。

你以为的：They are impressed. 他们觉得这个很好。 真正意思：That is clearly nonsense. 简直胡扯。 对话应用：
A：I think my boss has a crush on me because she often talks with me. 我觉得我老板喜欢我，因为她总是找我谈话。 B：Very interesting. 呵呵。
