摘要：An approach is provided for determining a position of a device and/or a travelpath of the device. A position of a device is defined as a first position. Accelerometer dataassociated with the device during a movement of the device from the first position to a
second position is determined. The accelerometer data is processed to determine a steprate of a user of the device during the movement of the device from the first position tothe second position. A step length of the user is determined from a user profile. Adirection of movement of the device from the first position to the second position isdetermined. The step rate, the step length, and the direction of movement of the deviceare processed to determine a location of the second position with respect to the firstposition.
